About

On May 11th, I turned 42 years old.  Taking a look in the mirror and a look at my sedentary lifestyle, I decided it was time to make a change.  Over the past few months, I had taken more of an interest in my health, working with a great local physician who practices functional lifestyle medicine, and I had been taking a variety of nutritional supplements that seemed to make a difference.

However, something was still lacking – energy and strength.  Having a four year old can take a lot out of you, but I found myself being challenged to muster the energy after work to play with him, instead opting to crash on the couch.  I also felt challenged physically, like I was losing muscle mass.

After talking with several neighbors who had or were in the process of working out using the P90X system, I, along with my wife decided to take matters into my hands and dedicate the time to strengthen the flabby areas of my life.

Grant it, looking at me, I didn’t appear overweight.  I did see a number on the scale that was foreign to me, although not my heaviest.  But, I did find that in the past year any attempts at dieting, fasting, detoxing, etc. did little to move the needle back on the scale.  It was time to get serious.  And serious meant committing to waking up each morning, turning on the DVD player and TV and “bringing it.”

My journey began on May 17, 2010.  Stick around to learn how things have gone.  And please let me know what you think along the way with comments.
